My final project for my figure drawing course. the assignment was to make some piece of art that incorporated the figure/human anatomy in some way, and I had been meaning to make something like this for awhile now, so i figured might as well make you guys a bunch of happy campers and make one of smexy since he's a pretty simple dude visually speaking, and it's way easier to sculpt something non-human like him, rather than a more realistic human where you only have so much wiggle room. it's way harder to screw up making a monster-guy like him.
this is one of those sculptures where you make a wire/tin foil armature underneath and then sculpt a layer of clay over top of it,letting you get way way more detailed than you could ever get with stuff like porcelain clay that you fire and glaze and all that which is really meant more for making pots and such where you have to work
it was like mind blowing for me to only barely have to consider stuff like thickness and supporting it's own weight! although i did run out of clay near the end so instead of having his trench coat around his waist i just made him a nifty little censorship hoodie instead.
all in all not too bad for a first try with this sort of technique, but i could probably do a lot better next time around.
